99 Reasons To Stay Another Day
99 Reasons to Stay Another Day
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Each year, millions grapple with mental health struggles and often feel isolated and overwhelmed. Life can be incredibly challenging and at times feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders, leading us to question our purpose and worth. However, within the depths of despair lies an abundance of reasons to stay, reasons that remind us of the beauty , joy and connections that life offers. In the post i will share with you 99 Reasons to Stay, in hopes you will read these messages as just another reason you choose to stay with us on this journey in life.
You Matter, Everyday and in Every Moment.
As some of you may know, I myself have struggled with mental health for years. I’ve had really really good days and I’ve had really dark days. Today ill dive into that some if it will help one more person stay here with us. Because no matter how hard that day is, I promise there are so many more brighter and happier days ahead.
Several years ago, while I was in the military I had a pretty massive injury that ended up costing me a good bit of mobility and nerve damage in my legs and hips. That day i realized the future I wanted for myself at that time was over as I laid in the hospital bed broken and bleeding from the accident not sure if I was ever going to walk again, I fell for the first time into a deep dark place.
I got to go home and seeing my Mom at the airport picking me up was the first time i had smiled in weeks. I was scared they were going to be so disappointed in me or frustrated and mad that they had to take in a cripple basically, but my Mom just held me and was happy to have her daughter alive. That was my first reason to stay, i didn’t go home that day and end everything because i felt like my life was over my family gave me my first reason. My Dad and brother when i came home from the airport both gave me a hug and helped as much as they all could with my recovery.
For years i dealt with the ups and downs of my mental health, always wearing a mask of everything’s fine, don’t worry about me or using my humor for years as a distraction for my deteriorating mental health, Because if people we laughing at me and or my jokes they weren’t seeing under my mask. I met my husband in the height of my health crisis and he loved me through every moment of it (and still does everyday). He is my second reason, everyday he shows me I’m not hard to love because of the way my brain makes me feel. He has always stuck by myside through every medication and doctor visit. Never made me feel less then or that my condition hurt our marriage. I know for years me not being myself did hurt our marriage and I try everyday not to get back to that point, he never strayed away from me and did everything in his power to help me get better.
It is possible i promise, please stay a while and listen. The world around you may be scary and loud and the people can overwhelm you. Find the thing and the people who can ground you. We want you here. YOU are here on this Earth for a purpose, everyday might not be the easiest but in the long run it is worth it. Seeing your friends grow older and have children, your siblings growing up and getting married. If i wouldn’t have stayed I would have missed both of my siblings finding there forever partners. I would have missed my nephews growing up. My friends growing up and having the most beautiful babies and careers. I would have never met the most amazing man i could have never dreamed of finding. There are so many reasons to stay, some reasons you don’t even know about yet. I promise you don’t want to miss them.

I know this seems like a lot of my story maybe you didn’t know about, the point of sharing a bit of myself is to help you understand that your not alone. You are a joy to this world even if you don’t think so. There are people who will miss you if you don’t stay with us today. I know it seems like a big ask from someone who may seem invisible to you but i do care. I’m going to leave the hotline below, if your needing to talk to someone please please use it. Don’t hesitate, I look back now and I would be devastated by all the things that I would have missed or the times people would have said “I wish Karye was here to see this”. I am so grateful I got to experience those important moments. I am so glad i stayed. I hope you do as well.
